Boost your Milk Supply with this Recipe for Lactation Biscuits

Lactation Biscuits Recipe

I thought I’d share this amazing recipe for lactation biscuits a good friend uses to help her with her milk supply. These yummy biscuits are suitable for both pregnant and breastfeeding mummies. And they do work!

So here’s the recipe:

1 cup gluten free wholemeal flour

1/2 cup coconut oil – it’s super good for you!

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tbsp flaxseed meal

1 egg

2-3 tbsp of water (depends on how moist you prefer the cookies to be)

1 tbsp vanilla extract (optional)

1-2 tbsp brewers yeast – do not substitute with baking yeast or any other yeast

1/2 tsp salt

11/2 cups oats

In a large mixing bowl, cream the oil and sugar, then add the egg and vanilla. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine the flaxseed and water, let them sit for a few minutes before adding to mix. Add the dry ingredients (apart from the oats and your additional ingredients – you can add chocolate chips, dried fruit…) and mix well again.

Finally, stir in the oats.

Make the biscuits (I use a dessert spoon as a rough size guide) and place them onto a lightly greased or lined baking tray.

Flatten them a little with your fingers or a spatula – if you like a soft centre, don’t squash them down too much. If you like you can just make them into balls  – I do this and I love the soft centre.

Bake the biscuits for around 10-12 minutes at 170°C depending on how well cooked or crunchy you like your biscuits.

You can eat the dough raw too.
