Give your wardrobe an autumnal twist with these gorgeous colours

As the days get darker and drearier, does your wardrobe have to follow suit – or are you tempted to add a touch of autumnal spice to your outfits this season?

Luckily, for lovers of colour, there are plenty of ways to brighten up your outfit, as runway designers added a liberal splash of gorgeous jewel tones, vivid prints and sparkling accessories to the season’s trends!

Read on to find out more about autumn’s beautiful new shades – and the colours to keep you looking on-trend all through the season.

Calling Code Red

Siren-worthy scarlets, decadent rubies and gothic crimsons – there were reds aplenty, from Christian Dior, Marni and more.

Vivid red is certainly a fantastic way of adding a show-stopping touch to any look for day or night – if you’re feeling brave, make the street your catwalk with a floor-length red maxi dress, or matching two piece suit.

But if you’d rather work the colour in with a little more subtlety, then it’s easy to incorporate splashes of red to bring brightness and vibrancy. Off-set a black tailored suit with a soft red blouse for work, or for a casual daytime chic, pair your favourite denim jeans with a prettily flowing top in an autumnal cherry shade.

Red is also perfect to pair with classic neutral shades – while red and black is a perennial favourite combo, try combining deeper shades with nudes to soften the impact for day, or with white and black, from a crisp, modern silhouette.

Work a boho vibe

Gorgeous tasselled ponchos, thick warm capes and wonderfully snuggly scarves absolutely make autumn – but their bohemian vibe has gotten a little more polished this season, with beautiful floral prints and bold geometric patterns.

With a folk-inspired flavour, this season’s boho look is all about combining colour with comfort. Try a loosely tailored midi dress that’s perfect for flowing over your bump, or show off your figure with a strategically draped printed silk scarf.

Feeling blue

Blue in all its myriad shades is definitely one of the must-have colours of the season – from sugary-sweet powder blues, vivid electric shades and regal tones of jewelled sapphire and tourmaline.

If you’re guilty of opening up a wardrobe full of black, then this gorgeous colour is a perfect alternative as a staple neutral – as it pairs wonderfully with almost any shade or pattern.

Choose a texture to show off a shade to maximum effect – dark indigo shades look slimming and flattering, and are lovely in a flowing dress, while royal blue looks classic and elegant for any occasion.
