Hurray for Spring! Blossoms, birdsong, nature bursting into life, can there be a better season to be pregnant in?
For us, the first hint of Spring was glimpsing actress Emily Blunt plus bump steal the show at the Oscars, thanks to a beautiful pink maternity evening dress by Prada. You’ve got to hand it to them: from Chrissy Teigen to Coco Rocha, the current crop of A-listers really knows how to rock the pregnancy look. Whether it’s red carpet razzmatazz from the likes of The Voice presenter Emma Willis, or the pared down off duty vibe favoured by Liv Tyler, they are like a ready-made look book for expectant mums.
Here at Bumpalicious all our customers are celebs to us so if a wedding or special party is looming large in your Spring calendar, our collection of maternity evening dresses sourced from around the world, features plenty of show-stoppers guaranteed to get the paps snapping. Our dresses range from short and chic – check out our fabulous knee-length Jemima, Grace, Isabelle and Neave Lace maternity dresses which feature swirly swing-out skirts. Or instead you might opt for classically long and romantic such as the Ripe Alexis Satin Maternity dress which comes in six flattering shades including my favourite – shiny scarlet.
Planning what to wear for a big event is the best fun, however working out what will suit your growing bump in X weeks’ time, can be a challenge. It’s less: “does my bum look big in this?” more “how big will my bump be in this?”
I know exactly how this feels having had two huge bumps myself! We’re on hand to provide help, advice and inspiration to guarantee you look and feel your absolute best on the big day.
High days and holidays aside, Spring provides a great chance to shrug off the wintry woollies and refresh your everyday look with new colours and styles. Hot off the heels of London Fashion Week, I can reveal that, from Amanda Wakeley to Julien McDonald black is “in” this Spring albeit softened by cuts out and detailing. Which means our Bumpalicious Black and White Maternity Dress and Wendy Lace Collar Maternity dresses are bang on trend.
Initially, news that the waist is back might not seem that exciting – after all ours are on a nine-month holiday. But ladies, the capital’s designers are belting up, with tie-belts a particular favourite. Our response? Only the Bumpalicious Work-Wear collection, with a whole suite of belted numbers to choose from including the Nora Classic Brown Pinstripe, the Carrie Maternity Office Dress and for a smart casual option, the Aurina Maternity Shirt Dress.
Now call me nostalgic, however I was pleased to discover that the late ‘60s and 70’s are still providing plenty of catwalk inspiration. If there’s one dress in our collection which sums up Spring, it’s the gorgeous sixties inspired Madderson Maternity Dress, a perfect fusion of retro-chic and 21st century tailoring know-how. It’s worth being pregnant just so you can wear it!
Enjoy the blossoming Spring and take care!
