Tinsel, trees, twinkly lights, Christmas is our favourite season here at Bumpalicious Maternity and a great time of year to be pregnant. The obvious parallels with the Christmas story aside, it’s party season and a beautiful bump is the ultimate accessory and there is some beautiful maternity partywear around this Christmas.
So what are the key trends for Winter 2016? Bumpalicious Maternity’s consultation with the style gurus suggests that Romantic is definitely in: the stylists at M&S are calling the trend Romantic Explorer with an emphasis on dark and decadent. Drawing on the looks at the Paris/Milan/New York and London Autumn-Winter Fashion Weeks, British Vogue is talking fluid velvets, with designer Preen leading the way. Top-to-toe sequins are also bang on trend says Vogue with all the top designers from Rochas to Moschino to Samantha Cameron’s favourite, Erdem, piling in on the act.
But how do these trends translate into an expectant mum’s Christmas wardrobe? Is there such a thing as glamorous and on-trend maternity partywear? Separates are sexy and we think teaming a velvet top with plain dark maternity trousers or a skirt is a great way to nod to the current trends. If you can’t find a dedicated maternity velvet top, try an ordinary top that’s one or two sizes bigger than your normal size.
Dresses, however are a one stop solution at what is traditionally a busy time of year even if you’re not pregnant. If you’re going out straight from work, accessorising a smart day dress is one easy option to take you from desk to dancefloor.
At Bumpalicious Maternity we offer a large range of smart black maternity dresses from our highly popular Queen Mum black maternity tunic to our curve-flattering Ginata black maternity dress, both are versatile enough to take you from noon to night. To make the transformation complete, accessorise with eye-catching earrings – jumbo earrings are right on will go to the ball in style: if you want on-trend romantic we’re probably talking a full-length or maxi dress such as our stunning satin full-length maternity dress, available in seasonal crimson, party pink or beautiful blue.
For more of a cocktail vibe, our 1920s flapper style Harlow maternity evening dress will bring some Hollywood glamour into your wardrobe. Meanwhile our Eliza sequin band maternity dress will help you stay up-to-the-minute with Vogue’s sequin trend, with its full silk satin skirt providing extra twirl. For something a little different, how about some of the dresses in our Luxury collection, including the Roxanne one shoulder evening maternity dress Tallula strapless evening maternity dress.
Budgets are always tight around Christmas, but if money allows, treat yourself with a trip to the hairdressers for a special “do” to complete the look and make you feel a film star.
Wishing you and your families warm wishings for the festive period.
